Pet Friendly Policies - Dogs
Guest staying with their dog in authorized “dog-friendly” properties with ResortQuest agrees to abide by Town regulations and ResortQuest rules listed below:
- Guests are permitted no more than two (2) dogs .
- The dog(s) can weigh no more than 75 lbs;
- The dog(s) must be leashed at all times when outside of the rental property except in designated areas of the beach – signs are posted at beach boardwalks.
- The guest is responsible for cleaning up after the pet and disposing of the waste in appropriate containers on the property.
- The dog may not display any vicious or nuisance behavior.
- Excessive barking may disturb neighbors and wild life and is not permitted.
- The dog should be crated if left alone in the rental property.
- All vaccinations and shots must be current and up-to-date.
- Rabies vaccination tag must be visible.
- Dogs must be treated for flea prevention prior to entering any property.
- Pay a $200 per week or $50 per day non-refundable pet fee to be used for the purpose of providing carpet/upholstery cleaning upon pet departure.
- Dunes are protected by state law – no dogs (or people) are allowed on dunes.
- From May through November Loggerhead Turtles lay nest on our beaches. Please make sure you and your dog avoid marked turtle nests areas.
- Please be aware that the island is inhabited by alligators. Any small animal can be a potential food source. Do not let your dog(s) roam unleashed at any time.
The ability to have a dog in a qualified, dog-friendly property is not a right but a revocable privilege. This privilege may be revoked for violation of any of the standards listed above. Any damaged caused by the pet will be the responsibility of the guest whose name is on the reservation. Security Deposit Protection program offered by CSA Insurance for $45 will cover up to $1,500 in accidental and pet damage. All guests staying in pet friendly properties are highly encouraged to purchase this plan.
Due to the limited amount of pet friendly properties, should this pet friendly property become unavailable ResortQuest can not guarantee an alternative pet friendly accommodation. The guest will be notified at the earliest possible opportunity of options.
Pet Owner agrees to indemnify, defend and hold ResortQuest International, Inc. and its officers, employees, agents, subsidiaries and affiliates harmless from and against any and all loss, cost, judgments, expenses, attorneys’ fees, suits, liabilities, damages or claims for damages (including but not limited to: those arising out of any injury or death to any person or persons or loss or damage to any property and or person of any kind whatsoever and to whoever it may belong to), by reason of any cause arising from Dog Owner’s pet being on or about any property managed by ResortQuest, including without limitation, any loss, cost, judgments, expenses, attorneys’ fees, suits, liabilities, damages or claims for damages occurring as a result of the presence of the pet, damaged caused by the pet or Pet Owner’s conduct or control of the pet, breach of this Agreement by the Pet Owner, and/or the performance of this Agreement by ResortQuest, its agents, employees or independent contractors.
Pet Owner agrees to defend, promptly and diligently, at Pet Owner’s expense, any claim, action or proceeding brought against ResortQuest, arising out of or connected with Pet Owner’s bringing a pet on or near any ResortQuest-managed property. Defense of any such claim will be accepted within ten (10) days after the date the Pet Owner is notified, or if sooner, when the first action in response to any claim is required. Defense will be with an attorney reasonably acceptable to ResortQuest. Failure to accept and provide a defense will entitle ResortQuest to conduct its defense at the expense of the Pet Owner.
