Welcome to Resort Quest

Named after the benevolent American Indian tribe that led English colonists to early Charleston, Kiawah still has a giving spirit about her. She shares miles of coastline, fruitful fishing waters and lush forests with all who visit. Over the years the stunning natural beauty of this barrier island has grown to include some manmade wonders as well – two top rated tennis centers according to Tennis magazine, five championship Golf courses blended amidst striking scenery and charming villas or beachfront bungalows to relax in.

Three main neighborhoods comprise Kiawah - West Beach, East Beach and Vanderhost Plantation. West Beach is home to Gary Player’s Cougar Pointe golf course and the upscale west beach tennis center. East Beach is known for the Jack Nicklaus Turtle Pointe course, with three gulf front holes and a highly accredited Golf school, along with excellent tennis facilities that like West Beach have lighted courts and teaching programs. Finally, the secluded Vanderhost Plantation boasts two courses – Tom Fazio’s Osprey Point and Pete Dye’s challenging Ocean Course. The Ocean Course hosts many televised events including the upcoming 2012 PGA championship.

Memorable family moments will abound with the variety of activities available. In the 21 acre Night Heron Park alone there are volleyball courts, soccer fields, 20 miles of bike trails that weave through the island and a venue for concerts. Day camps for the kids are available or keep the whole family together by heading to nearby Bohicket Marina and Market. Embarking on a dolphin cruise or sailing trip around the islands is an exhilarating experience for adventurists of all ages. Outdoor events such as these allow for photography sessions with the islands’ beautiful wildlife. Pelicans, deer, osprey, red foxes and loggerhead turtles are among the original island residents.

Shopping and dining are always much anticipated portions of a really great vacation. Freshfields Village located at the crossroads of Kiawah, Seabrook, and Johns Islands is a perfect mix of shops, businesses, and restaurants. They are also host to seasonal events like Dogtober – a wine festival where furry friends are invited to the walkabout. Other Kiawah events include the Lowcountry Cajun Festival April and the Festival of lights at James Island County Park in late fall. A delightful day exploring Kiawah and all she has to offer is perfectly complimented by returning to comfortable vacation cottage or private home.
